(30,105 posts)reg 1020.34H standards? (I had to look up what the Marine equivalent to Air Force reg 3510 is, so blame Google and AI if dont have the proper numbers.)

(30,105 posts)In a television series I have followed, the main male character is a retired Marine who is the proprietor of a bar, and has long shaggy hair. In the final episode of the latest season, he finally marries the female lead while wearing his dress blues but with long hair hanging over his ears and his collar. It looked terrible and really ruined the story line. I figured none of the writers had ever been in the military or they would have known better.
Regardless of branch, specialty, or length of service, I think there is a bond amongst those of us who have served. There are things we understand that those who have not do not.
My husband and I met while in the Air Force - I was a peds nurse practitioner in the nurse corps, he was a pilot. We were next-door neighbors in the BOQ at Yokota AB in Japan. My husband did the full 20. I was active duty for 4, and a reservist for 8. We got married in 1982.
I always enjoy reading your posts, especially the recent ones about your granddaughter and about your new romance, and Im sure youll look like a million bucks on July 4th.
How long were you in?
MarineCombatEngineer
(18,240 posts)I was active duty for 35 years, 1964-1999.

Have not seen BossHog in a whole. He and AviationPro are the two military people I have seen around.
I am from a service family myself (not American but regardless). Have a soft spot for the services.
I wish you both all the very best.

(23,570 posts)As my wedding gift to you, let me please suggest you move the date up a week to Saturday June 27th - for astrological reasons.
As Biden would say: No joke! My parents made the mistake of not consulting an astrologer for their wedding date. They picked a bad day - and sure enough, it has not turned out well (though they're still together after 51 years!).
Please consider the change. If a week is too drastic, at least consider Sunday July 5th (or Saturday July 11th).
Either way, I wish you both All the Best!
