The result is that it becomes advocacy for trump.

(1,077 posts)...ten different times, but if you ask ten Republicans a question you will get ten glimpses into a Charlie and the Chocolate Factoryesque world of delusion that will garner more attention.
It is a different discussion, but it seems like the human brain evolved to crave fantasy over reality--probably because for hundreds of thousands of years fantasy was most of what we had to explain the world around us. Reality has made so much progress over the last 150 years that we seem to be falling back into a pattern of elevating fantasy again--a luxury created by the very success of reality-based progress.
And yes, the result is that it mainstreams the fever-dream we currently call conservatism.
Fun times....

Democrats are so bad?
Are they so FOX brainwashed or are they just born that way?

(77,268 posts)All these cultists saying they have buyers' remorse; rarely do any say they will vote D from now on.
And there are those here that say Dems do not have a messaging problem.
This situation appears to be proof that they do.
An absolute idiot & failure in the WH; an obsequious & enabling Congress; a compliant judiciary; and we can't sell better ideas?
That sounds like a root cause issue to me.

(29,286 posts)What are Republicans voters voting for? Are they really voting for Republicans, or against Democrats?

(77,268 posts)Who controls all 3 branches of government?
They obviously have sent a message people are more wiling to hear? Bad ideas, empty promises, lies, & all.
How could you even suggest that they haven't beaten our side on messaging? Ideas bad for the country & its people in every thing they pitch, yet they won the WH 2 of the last 3 elections and control both houses of congress with a compliant Supreme Court.
Your refusal to accept that there is a problem is TIWWLE. (This Is Why We Lose Elections)
The Failure should have been trounced all 3 times, yet here we are.

(11,056 posts)Thats all I need to know about the media.
Many of the R voting rubes dont know that. They vote for whoever has an R beside their name. If the media would stop normalizing Republicans behavior and refer to them by what they are - fascists - maybe some of those R voters would wake up to the change the party has taken, but apparently thats never going to happen with this media.
When a sitting senator points out that it is a Trump Party the media needs to say what that means, which is that the American ideal of democracy has disappeared from that party. The message needs to be to keep voting for them if you no longer want a democratic government, not even a republic form of government.

(109,260 posts)Our media is owned by billionaire conservatives and caters to republicans. The days of Edward Morrow and Woodward & Bernstein don't exist anymore.
If we want to get rid of this evil regime, then we've got to start with taking back the media. We can't stop fascism with strongly worded letters.
