And I'd been looking forward to it for years. I was 4 when the bicentennial happened so I barely remember that one. trumps re-election ruined it for me.

Which is sad.

I think I know too much about American History and Americans to feel pride in anything but the National Park system.

and, the national parks will be on the chopping block if the right wing juggernaut isn't stopped.

"They were careless people, Tom and Daisy—they smashed up things and creatures and then retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness or whatever it was that kept them together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made... ."

https://www.businessinsider.com/oil-prices-market-supply-shortage-outlook-iran-war-crude-inventories-2026-5

HFI Research, an investment research firm with a focus on energy markets, said it sees the oil market hitting a major turning point in the first week of June. If the Strait of Hormuz remains closed through that time, oil markets will likely descend into "real panic," it said, suggesting that nations around the world could start panic-buying and hoarding oil as oil inventories hit rock bottom.

The scenario — which HFI said wasn't its base-case — is contrary to where most forecasters think the crude market is headed. The firm pointed to more optimistic oil forecasts about how the market would soon normalize, but those predictions are likely fueled by "psychological biases" in the oil market, it said.

If gas is up 40% by today's numbers, then the base would be 71.43% of today's price.
But Trump promised to cut energy prices in half so the true base would be 35.71% of today's price.
That would be a 180% price increase by Trump's earlier promise.
As if Trump's promise/word had any value.
