Namely - De Nile.
I saw a quaint OP on another site saying how wonderful it was that MAGA had to spend huge amounts of money to beat Massie.
Somehow, someone somewhere thinks this is still politics as usual.
The bastards just created a billion plus dollar slush fund. How does anyone think money means anything to them?
Add to that the support of the tech bro billionaires, the superpacs and dark money, etc..
Not to mention the billions going to finance his private ICE militia, and now going to January 6ers who have already begun making threats against Democrats.
I am flabbergasted by the Pollyannish outlook I'm seeing.
I'm not saying at all that elected Democrats are not taking action, they definitely are, but I'm not seeing results that have timely impact. Feel free to make me feel better by pointing out examples. I really want to be wrong.
I have reached a point where I can no longer look at political cartoons (except for Tom Tomorrow, who seems to share my outlook), I no longer click on OPs saying how fucked up any of this is, because I now have a voice in my head that whispers "yeah, that'll show 'em."
In short, I believe project 2025 and its figurehead are equipped and prepared to completely disrupt the mid term elections to the point where they don't need to "cancel" them, just overwhelming the process with chaos and repression will have the same effect.
I fervently hope I'm wrong.

(25,109 posts)Now, legally we're assured by Trump's personal lawyer and the nation's acting attorney general, the same people who tried to overthrow the government on January 6, 2021 are entitled to 1.776 billion in compensation for the injuries and damages they caused, er, suffered.

(31,163 posts)I disagree and do not think cutting off heads will fix this.
Hopefully you were speaking metaphorically.
I do agree a national nonviolent mobilization on an epic scale needs to come before, not after November.

(25,109 posts)While we as good people must advocate for non-violent change, we have been trapped by our lessers who use the powers of government to kill those who oppose them publicly and are loyal to the Constitution.
Anyone on TV even mention Rene Good and Alex Pretti lately?

(9,946 posts)The Kentucky house primary was hugely nationalized, with money pouring in from across the country
Rep. Thomas Massie of Kentucky lost his Republican primary Tuesday night. He can blame, in part, donors with no discernible ties to his district.
Welcome to the most expensive Congressional primary ever in the 250-year history of this country, Massie said in his concession speech. It started nine months ago they didnt even have a candidate and they decided they wanted to take me out.

Kentuckys 4th District has seen $32.6M in ad spending, according to AdImpact. The two largest portions of that figure are for ads supporting Gallrein and ads attacking Massie.
Pro-Israel groups including the American Israel Public Affairs Committee and the Republican Jewish Coalition played an outsized role in seeking to unseat Massie for his position on the war in Iran and broader politics concerning Israel. They poured millions of dollars into Gallreins campaigns and attack ads against Massie.
How did this race become the most expensive race in the history of Congress, for a primary? Its because three billionaires from outside of Kentucky have funneled millions of dollars here to try to buy a seat, Massie said on ABC News This Week. And so, its not just the presidents tweets. I can sustain those without a problem. Its because Miriam Adelson and Paul Singer have dumped money in here.
