(6,458 posts)Getting taken down a peg or two changed how I looked at everything.
Hope you got over it😀
We had a close friend whose mother put her on a plane and sent her to college overseas to mash up a relationship - so it was quite our drama song.

(3,929 posts)Bear with me, they were one of the first concerts I ever saw. My mom and her brother took me and my brother camping to Percy Priest lake in TN just to get away for a weekend. That lake had a fake beach with sand and fake palm trees. There slogan was why drive all the way to FL lol.
They had a little wooden shack where you could rent inner tubes for a quarter. I walked up to it with my brother, patchouli wafting through the air. The lady at the window was decked out in full Paisley and laid down a big pink piece of paper full of dried herbs as she reached for my quarter. I knew what it was, I was raised in Cali before sometimes moving to IN lol. Anyway come to find out the place was a famous local "hippie" (hate that word but) hangout.
Its big "attraction" was a stage floating about 30ft off "the beach" that looked pretty sketch even to a kid. While my brother and I were playing around a loud noise was heard in the parking lot. It was a VW Bug convertible and a VW Van that the muffler fell off of. There were a bunch of scruffies with whiskey bottles in their hands whoopin' it up having a good time. I'd seen this stuff before and thought it was funny. Then they pulled instruments out of the van and proceeded to walk out to that stage via the rickety floating dock, I think one of them fell in and the others started laughing. I'm just this 10 year old kid floating in the water watching this. They got all setup and proceeded to play Sylvia's Mother as a warm up. I didn't totally get the song at the time but that was it, i was hooked on Hook! This is all true, I swear lol
Oh, the Belly Up 45. It was like a year later when I got it. Now I was pretty young but I do remember it was insanely hilarious. My mom worked at a "Cutout" record warehouse and got to bring home 20 albums a week as part of her pay. She'd take me and brother in and let us pick some out too. That was one of them. Unfortunately I lost the 45 many many years ago as I stare at the 1,237 albums I have. I've been digitizing them for my own collection for 15 years with a USB turntable.
Anyway, thanx for triggering that lost memory and a maybe a glimpse into my childhood lol!
