We do a mini version in psychiatry - I have plenty of older patients that I treat for mental health issues. I only do a mini cog on the ones that already present with memory or some kind of cognitive issue. The last person I asked to do one, forgot that she saw me at a recent appointment. The MOCA asks people to recall 5 things the tester says to them (which are supposed to be unrelated BTW, not "TV, camera, man, woman" ffs)
and to count backwards subtracting by 7 starting at 60.
He is either lying (what else is new) or he can't remember anything about the test. Maybe a bit of both, called confabulating.
Cognitive test and IQ test are two entirely different things.
The cognitive test like the MOCA is used to assess for delirium and dementia -- not intelligence.
The MOCA is pretty simple. Folks should check it out to see what this imbecile is referring to.
It is administered to people suspected of cognitive impairment... like him.
He says he has done it FIVE times, which is very telling.
