The Trump administration is deleting government data. From infant deaths to hunger, here are five ways it’s hurting Americans

When we think of what governments do, we think of everything from building highways to waging war. What they also do is capture the world in the form of information. The US government may be the foremost producer of information in the world.

For decades, federal agencies have gathered data on everything from climate risk to the rising cost of childcare. It is information funded by taxes, and that belongs to the American people. This data is often how the government decides what to do: what is a problem, what is a policy priority, what should be funded. It tells the story of America.

But over the past year, the Trump administration has been altering and removing decades’ worth of datasets as part of a sweeping campaign targeting so-called “woke programs”, “racial equity”, “gender ideology” and “climate extremism”.

This censorship has affected not just datasets, but also a wide swath of federal resources: tools that helped the public access data, ongoing surveys and, perhaps most concerning, the agency staff that made it all possible.

... specifically prohibits the destruction of public records, digital or otherwise. But then, Republicans, in their infinitely despicable wisdom, have "weaponized", as they like to say, virtually all legal avenues to hold these evil fucks to account for their crimes. And if they try to fuck with this upcoming election... well, it's ON, bitch! And all the Neville Chamberlains wishing for "Peace in our time" had better get their sorry asses out of the line of fire.
There's only so much decent people can be expected to tolerate, and that line has already been crossed.

Rather, they stopping surveys or specific questions on surveys or otherwise stopping collecting the data so that data will not be available moving forward. They're also removing public access to other data sets. From the attached article:

1. One in three Americans live near hazardous chemicals. Now it’s harder to tell if you’re one of them
Nearly every US county has facilities that handle toxic chemicals. An EPA tool made it easy to look up where they are.
---------
But last April, the Trump administration took down this tool.

2. Babies born in the US have a higher chance of dying than almost all other high-income countries. We’ve stopped tracking why

3. Hunger is rampant in the US. But the government is no longer asking people about it

4. More than half of trans youth have considered suicide. But any mention of trans people has been deleted from a critical survey

5. The cost of US climate disasters has climbed to nearly $200bn a year. The government is no longer recording them

Was it an act of Congress? If so, he still can't just cancel shit he doesn't like.

All it requires is to publish a proposed change in the Federal register for comments. In some cases, not even that is required.

It's been eye-opening how unsafe our entire system of government is from tyrants.

is one of the greatest disasters ever to befall this country.

America's penance, for allowing this kind of evil to persevere.

Put ‘em all on trial for every penny stolen, every murdered life, and every act of treason, including whatever its doctor says passes for perfect health.

In the future when sane leadership is restored, say there’s an effort to increase funding for child nutrition. Them: “We don’t see the need, there’s no official data indicating that links are going hungry.”
And so on for other programs once considered a given for a compassionate government, etc.

They are evil.
