Trump's biggest "TELL" in ALL of this is when he refers to his vanity projects as a "gift to the American people."You have to filter that through TRUMP'S CONCEPT OF "GIVING."
THIS is the guy who used funds from his "charity" to buy himself a portrait of himself and an autographed Tim Tebow helmet. Then, Eric Trump conducted a little "creative bookkeeping" to re-direct funds raised for kids with cancer back into daddy's pockets.
So you make the assumption that TRUMP IS DOING ALL OF THIS for HIMSELF and NO ONE ELSE, then you ask "why."
And if you know Trump well enough, you can answer those questions.

(53,441 posts)In the building he tore down, Jacqueline Kennedy, Lady Bird Johnson, Roslyn Carter, Hillary Clinton, Michelle Obama and Jill Biden had their Office of the First Lady. One of his goals for the current reign of terror is to eliminate anything associated with Democrats. I doubt he even cares if a ballroom will be built.
Out in the civilian world, unless a building is uninhabitable or infamous they normally wait until they have plans and money for the new building before they tear down the old one. The East Wing was fine and they still dont know what this ballroom will even look like much less what the inside will be.
