2 Hours On The Phone With My Health Insurance Company And I Won

...Insurance company sent us a letter stating that they were declining coverage on $1500 of claims my wife has rang up because of her diabetes because it being a pre-exsisting condition and the fact that I had to wait 90+ days after my hire date to have my benefits.

They said because our previous insurance was canceled 91 days before that any condition brought over to them was considered P-E. I then told them I would have loved to have been able to maintain my old insurance up to the last day but due to personal economics we were forced to drop it before I started the new job and that it was not my fault. I also said the 90 day waiting period was not reasonable either.

Well about this time the rep took a break and put me on hold and came back and said I was right and my rational was spot on. She waived the waiting period and the 63 day rule as long as I could produce a portability certificate from my prior health insurance company..

I am so happy... I also found out that even though I was laid off yesterday my coverage is good till the end of the month so I will be spending a bit of time getting health things I have put off done. My biggest health issue right now is persistent tissue pain in my left upper breast...

The Tricare system is a form of single payer, and the VA system is socialized medicine. Actually tricare is a combo of socialized and single payer since they have military doctors too.

The entire idea of pre-existing conditions is total bullshit.

I hate calling them. I fell that whenever I need to it is criminal on their part that I should even have to argue anything. I hate health insurance companies, but it is a service that I have to buy. It just makes me bitter and angry thinking about it.
