NY-06: Major NYC LGBTQ+ groups endorse Grace Meng for re-election to Congress
Two of New York City’s most impactful LGBTQ+ groups — the Stonewall Democratic Club of New York City (SDNYC) and the Jim Owles Liberal Democratic Club — endorsed U.S. Rep. Grace Meng in her re-election campaign for Congress.
Meng is being challenged by former U.S. Diplomat Chuck Park in the Democratic primary later this month.
According to Meng’s office, these endorsements reflect the congresswoman’s position as a reliable ally and champion for the LGBTQ+ community, fighting to advance equality, protect against discrimination and defend the rights and dignity of LGBTQ+ Americans.
“Grace Meng understands that the fight for LGBTQ+ equality is inseparable from the broader fight for civil rights, dignity and justice for all New Yorkers,” said John Wahlmeier, president of SDNYC. “She has stood with our community time and time again — defending marriage equality, combating discrimination and making clear that LGBTQ+ rights are human rights.
