Grassley, Lankford and Murkowski all issued statements saying that they need a clear commitment to end the fund completely and are not satisfied with the current language.
Thune is saying that he received an assurance from Blanche that he will definitively end the fund. Blanche is going to be testifying this hour on Capitol Hill so we shall see.
Looks like even the R's have figured out that you can't trust a word that come out of these peoples'' mouths.

(25,704 posts)A legally binding commitment is a must. Their word means nothing, and I am glad that at least some Rs seem to be getting that.

(4,202 posts)They are trying to distract us while they take it anyway--or just do it a little later. Or find another scheme to make the heist legal. It's a matter of whether the person who has to sign over the money does it when Trump tells him to.
Only a court ruling, a new law from a bipartisan Congress, or both will stop it. Everyone doling out money for anything needs to understand that Trump is not the law. The law is the law. Trump may be immune but the guy writing the check isn't. This needs to be made public, in writing, and clear.
