Whow--I sure wish this will happen!!
Trump Tower rises from the center of downtown Chicago on a major north/south street called Wabash Avenue. A petition is circulating to have the city formally rename a four-block strip of Wabash after a certain famous Chicago resident.

(1,469 posts)Telling someone to turn left onto N. Barack Hussein Obama Avenue likely will not go over too well, plus a street sign containing 30 characters would be quite inefficient.
Therefore, what of using: N. Obama Ave. instead (?).

(229 posts)because tRump always includes it, with emphasis (and a sneer) - Barrack HUSSEIN Obama. Im sure he thinks it makes Obamas name sound foreign and threatening.

Many on DU avoided using it, calling him PBO instead of BHO. I don't understand why.

(7,338 posts).... Giving directions, people would just say Wabash. Otherwise, it could be abbreviated BHO, just as MLK is used for King,

I guess that makes the answer to your question "Yes".
30% seems like a lot of vacancies.

(29,971 posts)When we took one of the architectural boat tours on the Chicago river, the boat was moored in a position looking directly at that damn TRUMP sign. I pulled my visor low over my eyes until we pulled away. It was an otherwise lovely day.

Now that I think about it, I don't think he owns that building, I think he just rents his trademark to the owner. He may own the commercial park like shops and hotel.

(77,493 posts)It's not a licensed use of the name.
Technically though, the banks own the place. There are loans on top of loans. Likely the leverage exceeds the assessed value of the property.
The hotel is never sold out, the underground retail space is a ghost town & the living spaces & office floors are about 30% unoccupied.
Another investment by him that was a disaster; for others. (Mostly the idiot bankers that were still lending him money 10 to 18 years ago.)
