The players on this team are absolutely pathetic. To their credit, the Team itself has denounced their own players for this action. Of course, they should release all the players who refused and replace them with new players who aren't homophobic bigots

"Unfortunately, several of our players have refused to wear the scheduled Pride Night jersey and the club decided that hosting the event is more important than forcing players to wear jerseys they are not comfortable with and playing the game," the York Revolution club said.
The team said the 11th Annual Pride Night will still go forward as a free community event at WellSpan Park from 5:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday. "We feel that this is the best way to stay consistent with our long-standing partnerships with the Rainbow Rose Center, JLS Automation and the long list of allies that have always been key partners of the York Revolutions success in York, Pennsylvania," the club said.
The club also criticized the players decision, saying it conflicted with the organizations values. "To be clear; this action by the players is completely inconsistent with our vision as the Most Welcoming Place in York," the statement said.
Note: The York Revolution are an Independent Minor League baseball team located in York, Pennsylvania.

(77,595 posts)I agree with you.
Anybody who went against team plans should be released.
They are the same type that like to say "Freedom isn't free."
Releasing them will show them what the price is for acting on their right to be jerks.

(10,721 posts)Either a bunch of new players signed for this year are troglodytes or they have been on the team before but just now felt the actions by the assholes on the San Francisco Giants freed them to show their true bigoted colors.

(10,181 posts)Still a racist bastion of Pennsyltucky. Wouldnt be surprised if theres still KKK outfits there. The article does not state if the players are locals. Probably.

Besides, the people refusing to wear the jerseys are not from the local area. There are only 4 players on the team from the entire state of Pennsylvania. Pitcher Aaron Holiday from Philadelphia, Pitcher Chris Vallimont from Erie, Infielder Nick Dunn from Sunbury, and Pitcher Joely Rodriguez originally from the Dominican Republic, currently living in Bernville.

The local people - the owners or front office of the team denounced the players.

stopdiggin
(15,800 posts)and it should probably be unnecessary to note, that these 'players' are probably getting decent amount of support for 'standing up' in not just a handful of quarters. Churches and courts as prominent examples - but also heading downstream to publications both local and national, news feeds and commentators, the ubiquitous socials - and perhaps more surprising a certain amount of unions, civic and sports organizations .. (who are generally not in favor of membership being co-opted .. )
In short - this action will not be without its fan base. (even while a lot of us see it as detestable)
