Community and Joy!
Watching the Grand Opening Ceremony at the Obama Presidential Center. I'm in tears.
All the other musical guests have joined Stevie Wonder on stage. They are singing and representing - Higher Ground! The rapper Common inserted a tribute to the Obamas and others (even Joe Biden)...and the setting. It is musical community and joy.
Michelle's Obama's speech was warm and powerful and inspirational - of course. She described some of the activities at the Obama Presidential Center intended to be enjoyed by everyone.
Barack Obama's speech was moving - of course! He emphasized the Obama Presidential Center is to be a place of community. He spoke honestly about the situation we are in - of course! But he inspired us to work together and make it better - of course!
Community and joy! It is a way to find the power to resist and fight the take over in D.C. - that is what I take away from it. The negativity and destruction of the current regime was met with community and joy today in Chicago.
