I'm a grad student in a lab fighting mosquitoes...

My boss and colleague gave an interview with Telemundo.

Other people get eaten alive.

DEET is by far the most effective repellant out there, but the mosquitoes are evolving a degree of resistance to it.

Turns out they have two color morphs - silver and mottled, and they behave differently. If I remember correctly, the mottled form is roughly 1% of the population and is much smarter and more aggressive. They kind of bully the other fish. And they learn from watching other fish more readily.

I think they are amazing for living thru the winter under ice at times.
