On the day Trump mused (again) about giving himself a Congressional Medal of Honor, here's a guy who probably deserves one.
This guy is heading for a court martial. But if Trump can pardon insurgent thugs for attempting to thwart democracy, surely the next Democratic President can pardon an Air Force officer for attempting to preserve democracy.

(5,778 posts)No doubt, he will also be courtmartialled, imprisoned and lose his military benefits. He has made an immense sacrifice to honor his oath!

(3,459 posts)Free speech is conditional to your role in society. As a veteran I understand this far too well. But if free speech can be conditional, it was never free in the first place.
It isnt a principle I am actually against. Just the reality.

(5,778 posts)I also figured that the next President could pardon him, but had to look up if a President could pardon a member of military who was convicted by court-martial.

(20,110 posts)I will believe in a dam breaking after I see a dam has very clearly and irrevocably broken, and not a moment before.
Most people look out for themselves first (though many call it looking out for their family), and this thin-skinned decomposing-Jack-o-Lantern of a POTUS has extraordinarily broad powers to harm those in uniform.
