Rep. Raskin: There are at least two Supreme Court seats that are completely illegitimate

There are at least two Supreme Court seats that are completely illegitimate because of the political games played by MAGA Republicans.

This is the way to go.

What kind of numbers do we expect for conviction in the Senate?

We all saw how that went -- TWICE -- with the Felon-in-Chief.

And then, if by some miracle we remove them from office, then the Felon-in-Chief gets to name their successors.

When the time comes, in two years, you will already have the political will to achieve your goals.

In the meantime, you define them as the pariahs that they are.

It's all just hopeless, and you are annoyed with those who refuse to agree with that. Am I reading you right?

And you are the one banging your head against the wall?

Social change begins with advocacy of what is right and what is needed, not with settling for that which seems possible. There was a time when Abolition, Women's Suffrage, and Civil Rights did not seem possible.

Of course it is an uphill battle. Of course there are dangers.

The Supreme irony in all of this is that many of those who lecture us about how we shouldn't let the perfect be the enemy of the good are actually the ones who are doing that themselves. They're waiting for that perfect safe opportunity to make an easy move in the right direction and they don't accept something that's is very much a good thing, and that is the passionate advocacy for that which we can't quite see yet, for that which seems impossible now.

If we get both Congressional chambers this year, they could investigate and impeach the 2 illegitimate justices and expand the court, depending on our ability to get enough Senate seats.

Hell, he might be wearing that medal already!

I’ll be watching for updates on this.

He’s 84, he’s still in the hospital, and his staffers are tight-lipped.

He was definitely a compromise that Obama thought he could get approved by the majority Republican Senate. It was a good strategy.

I could not believe that McConnell got away with denying a vote at all. I'm still kind of stunned by that. I wish the Democrats had reacted more strongly to that.

He said it was settled law. The *implication* was arguably that that meant he wouldn't attempt to overturn it, but he didn't actually *say* that in the hearings, as I recall.

Bush should never have been seated in office, Trump lost the popular vote in 2016....and probably 2024 (I'm not even a conspiracy theorist but the results still seem questionable to me). And one was stolen from Obama. The American people clearly do not want what they are forcing down our throats.... nor do we want them to turn a blind eye to the most blatant corruption ever seen.

McConnell's Republican Senate majority blocked Obama's nominee for nine (9) months because it was "too close to the election," and the other was appointed a week before Trump left office because Republicans make up new rules whenever it suits them.

the citizens who take the time to vote in this country knew this. 😔

They're too busy trying to pay their bills, get healthcare, and still find time to keep their eyes glued to their phones for 4 hrs. each day to pay attention to little things like this in their lives.

But I guess that's the plan, right? Peoples lives are filled with too many distractions to pay attention to important things.
I can remember a time when that wasn't so, but that ship sailed long ago.

McConnell had to do this. It was a foundational move to rig the Court so Plan 9 From An Evil Place could be enacted without interference from The People, after the Election was rigged to sweep the Swing States and seat majorities in both Houses of Congress.
They had ONE chance.
And they couldn’t trust to CHANCE.
So they CHEATED.
They HAD TO.
I’ll NEVER believe they pitched a No-Hitter, a Shut-Out and a turned a Hat-Trick on the same day.
NEVER
NEVER
NEVER
Or EVER
