If Obama had said:

"There is this 30% of the population that will never vote for me no matter what. So my job is not to worry about them." He wou ld have been telling the truth and would have been applauded by the tea party and the uber RW gun-toting fanatics, including FOX "News"
They are so proud of their bigotry and racism the would been happy to hear him say it,

with this 30 + or - % whose issues are going to get written off because it wouldn't do Dems/PO any good to do anything for them, because they have no intentions of voting/supporting Dem, one way or another, no matter what, anyway.

YES!!! There MUST be political consequences, but that's just the particular tight-rope that what calls itself "the Left" has to walk. Just like any other political creature, including PO, has to do too.
