God save us from a competent Republican - and the draft

If you or I can be arrested by any MP in the army and thrown into a military prison without the rights reaffirmed in the Constitution and held there as long as the Commander in Chief sees fit then it would be in our combined interest to see that there be no such thing as an 'all volunteer' military force. Think about it.

One thing you will never see with an all volunteer force is the tanks stopping:

They represent a better cross-section of the population, including pacifists who simply don't want to break the law.

A volunteer army brings out a self-selected group of enlistees who often WANT an opportunity to kill someone.
