I finally found a way to shut up one of the benghazi conspiracy nuts

I just said, " show it to me on a map before you even open your mouth. you should at least know where this place is before you start freaking out." needless to say, the person could not.

from now on, whenever I hear anyone starting in on benghazi, I will insist that they show me that they even know where it is. the silence will be wonderful.

the other question I always ask is, "did you demand an investigation into 9/11? did you insist on knowing the truth about an attack that killed nearly THREE THOUSAND people on this soil? No, then shut up"

Benghazi is close to my heart. Nobody at State thinks the conspiracy nuts are helping answer the legitimate questions about that day.

8. I don't think being able to locate it on a map is important

but that doesn't diminish the usefulness of asking them to find it.

This was discussed before at:

10. Yes. It is quite important to be able to locate Benghazi on the map if you want to discuss

the attack on our consulate there.

Our embassy is in Tripoli, not in Benghazi. Embassies are pretty well protected with lots of security, but consulates are not. Benghazi is a long way from Tripoli, at the other side of the country and like Tripoli in the north. Benghazi is quite near Egypt.

My question about the Benghazi attack is why our ambassador met with the ambassador of Turkey in Benghazi. They must both have offices in Tripoli. A meeting in Benghazi must have been unusual. Was the Turkish ambassador there for a reason? What was going on?

So knowing the location on the map of Benghazi is central to understanding why the security was not as good as it might have been.

I quite agree with you, but it amuses me to ask them questions to which I know they do not have the answers.

Hi,

The attack at Benghazi was not the first. There was an earlier attack in June. hardly reported by the press and the government knew of the dangers that it would be attacked again. The Canadians & English has left in the summer because of the danger.

Benghazi was not so much a consulate, but a CIA military base that launched Drone attacks. The local people knew this since you can not hide such an operation. That was the reason for the attacks & yes I know this sounds like a conspiracy theory, but it has been reported in the legitimate press. You will need to dig around for it, but it is there. We all know that our so called Free Press has fallen down on the job in recent years, but the real story has been reported.

it being a prime fundieville (home of fungus, aka focus on the family, new life, and other mega-reichwing organizations)

one of my favourite conversations occurred a year or so ago. was listening to a woman spouting off about the koran and how it preached evil, blah, blah, and obama was a muslim, and wright was a monster--the usual mishmash of ignorant drivel. I had sworn not to get involved, but finally the stupidity was too much. I told her that either obama was a muslim, or a follower of rev, wright, could not be both, take your pick. she was sputtering and trying to insist he was both, and started in on the koran again. I asked her if she had actually ever read it--well, no, but so-and-so (some reichwing blowhard) was telling all about it. I suggested that she actually try reading it herself, since so-and-so was a complete idiot. then I suggested that she try reading the bible, as well, since she clearly didn't know what was in it, either. it was fun watching her turn various shades of purple and puce.
