Breaking: Student opens fire at California high school, wounding one.

At least one person was shot at a high school in California on Thursday morning, authorities there say.

The shooting occurred in the science building at Taft Union High School in Taft, Calif., at approximately 9 a.m. local time, a Kern County Sheriff's official told Yahoo News.

The sheriff's official said the suspected shooter—a student at the school—was taken into custody, and a shotgun was recovered at the scene.

One victim, a fellow student, was airlifted to Kern Medical Center in Bakersfield, Calif., with a shotgun wound to the upper right chest, the official said. The official did not comment on his or her condition.

ETA: Thankfully it wasn't an AR-15 with 2 30 round jungle style magazines.

Young people are under a lot of pressure, life is confusing, emotions and hormones are raging...

Here's just one story. No connection to the incident in Bakersfield. Just something to think about ...

In the absence of further knowledge, my sympathies go out to the victim and the shooter.

I know there are a lot of people that think guns are ok on this site. But, if I could I would make them all go away.

4. Childhood school bullying

The majority of the school shootings have been caused by people who grew up being tortured by other people at school.
These children spend many years terrified. As this happens, their inner resentment grows. Years of enduring abuse by fellow students eventually causes many of the tortured children to snap.
Growing up in school, I knew plenty of kids who were tortured as kids for many years by fellow students.
In junior high, there was talk at the school dance of the bullied kids plotting to chain the auditorium doors shut and set the building on fire.
School bullying needs to be exposed to the public, solved and prevented.
