CA gun show draws 10,000 people ‘getting ready for the next revolution’

What drew an estimated 10,000 people to a Northern California gun show? Simple. According to one attendee, they’re scared.

“Obama wants to take everybody’s guns away,” said Bob Daziel, who stood in line with hundreds on Saturday to get into the Crossroads of The West event in Daly City, California. “So they’re down here buying ammo, buying guns, they’re getting ready for the next revolution.”

Organizers told KGO-TV they were surprised at the record turnout, believing it to be spurred on by the recent discussions headed by Vice President Joe Biden regarding gun safety.

“It was constructive dialogue,” said Bob Templeton, the event’s president, who attended the meetings this week between Biden and members of the firearms industry. “But I think they had their minds made up when they came in the meeting.”

Are they really going to offer anything constructive?

Templeton said his organization’s stance echoed that of the National Rifle Association: “Further restrictions on the Second Amendment are not on the table for discussion.”
Who is Templeton to say what is or isn't on the table? As far as I know he wasn't elected to anything.

This is really 'bubble' panic buying. I'm wondering if people will realize later after they drop $2000 (or whatever) on guns and junk that they got suckered into throwing their money away.

I bet most of these people (not gun 'enthusiasts' /hunters/target/etc) won't even wind up firing them. There's a young guy at work who said he wanted to buy one 'just because he needed to before the gov ban' - who has no intention of ever really shooting target etc.

Bubbles always collapse. The problem with this is that there could be a lot of idiots selling their guns 'cheap' to recoup cost.

(edit) Has anyone seen any mention of this type of panic buying as a study etc? You see it during storms where people panic buy all sorts of useless stuff, expensive generators they never use etc. It's fascinating on how people get manipulated by fear. Somehow we need to get control of this, as with climate change, economy etc we are going to be seeing even more 'fear' events.

And, yes, I know - generators etc are not 'weapons' etc and there is a difference.

Look what happens to fully automatic weapons after 1986 after Reagan signed the law that made it impossible for civilians to buy newly manufactured fully autos but could rebuy those already out there.

A m16 style rifle that sold for $1500 in 1985 is now selling for $15,000 to $25,000 and there's no burst in sight.

But it is true if the AWB does not happen and it just might not, then there are people paying 2 to 3 times what they will in 2 years. Even withouta new AWB I don't expect prices to come down to summer 2012 prices for 2 more years.

Read some of their blogs and forums, and you realize these grown men and women who love The Precious just about pee in their pants every day due to their paranoia and abject fear of modern life.

Look at that Yeager dude. In an ACTUAL firefight, he ran like a scared little kitten and hid. Totally ineffective, frightened out of his wits, couldn't even drive a GD car, yet we should trust him with an assault rifle? DELUSIONAL FREAK!

But the gun humpers are doing what the foreign terrorists never could. As they introduce more and more guns into our society ( I read there is a backorder of 1 million AR-15s - may be false but dayum if true ) they make people afraid to go anywhere.

Now this consumer-driven society is driven to just stay home. Forget the mall, the movies, and maybe even sending your kid to school. We have to trust that all these new semi-automatics will be locked up and handled responsibly and never, ever land in the hands of the troubled or the violent. And we have seen that we can't have that sort of trust of the gun-humpers. Ask Nacy Lanza. Oh, wait. WE can't! She died by her own weapon!

The gun-humpers have made our society so much more wicked and unsafe, they are fulfilling their own paranoid delusions.

I like the idea of giving them their own gun-humpers state. I imagine they would all eventually lose it over a sound in the night, an insult, whatever, and maybe just kill off each other in their manly sprays of bullets. Then we can pry their guns from their cold, dead hands, hand the weapons over to the military and law enforcement where they belong, and not have to live in fear of these sociopaths ever again.

I can't even go to the range anymore to shoot, because they are getting scary.

Have you seen the nut jobs there that don't know how to handle a weapon or basic safety. Some of them don't even know how to load the weapon in the first place. Let's not even get started on how they can't aim with iron sights or zero a scope.

Then the prices of ammo are going through the roof right now because of the panic buying.

Why does everyone have to buy a black rifle now? Do they even understand their uses or how they can be configured?

Yes, I am partly joking and partly serious about how scary some of these new people are.
