Scary.

I suppose that I could live with the no bumper stickers to keep a good job, if it is a good job. But that is as far as I would go. Then again, my reputation is such that I might push this to the limit and force a showdown....and my boss would surely expect it from me. If he knows nothing else, he knows that ultimatums are going to get the wrong reaction from me.

This is a serious problem, when it is acceptable to threaten employees regarding their political opinions.

In a civil course it doesn't ahve to be cut and dried.

Not saying it is easy, but it can be done.

But overt warnings about who to vote for is clearly crossing the line...

It isn't overt

"Tell me that you voted for Obama and you're fired" is an overt warning (threat, actually) not to vote for him.

"Vote for Obama and your job may be at risk because his policies will harm this company" is not an overt warning not to vote for him

This all sounds illegal to me. A boss telling you that you can not express your political views by a bumper sticker? I can see not endorsing a candidate while representing the company you work for but all this other crap sounds like they are running a dictatorship. This does not sound American, IMO. I hope we get updates on this story. I can not see how any of this is legal.

I work at a firm that is largely Republican. Our clients are mainly Republican. We've never been told not to have bumper stickers or whatever, but it's common sense that it wouldn't be appreciated. That doesn't mean I don't say who I voted for, if I'm asked, or who I probably will vote for.

Ever hear the expression "Don't bite the hand that feeds you?"

It's not a big deal. Vote how you want.

Wed Jan 25, 2012, 08:51 PM
Jan 2012

Management was sending it to everyone to read. I sent everyone an e-mail exposing it as being a lie, and not from Ted Nuggent.

The management of the company you work for will get over it. This is capitalism. If you are not already earning for your company one heck of a lot more than they are paying you, you would have been gone a long time ago. Trust me, these Repukes do not know loyalty or respect loyalty. They are not letting you work there because they like you or are being kind.
