Can someone here, that's smarter than me, please explain Mitch McConnell's lame ass excuse that the Senate had no jurisdiction over a former president?
"But after intense reflection, I believe the best constitutional reading shows that Article II, Section 4 exhausts the set of persons who can legitimately be impeached, tried, or convicted. The President, Vice President, and civil officers. We have no power to convict and disqualify a former officeholder who is now a private citizen."

I think you already said it - Lame ass excuse.

"We didn't convict him because he's a republican", to people who are too dumb to know that was the real reason.

for the exact crime, guess what Moscow Mitch would have said, then.

I'll do nothing and let you guys do the hard work of a criminal indictment.
