First below zero temps here in west MI this winter

Good morning, campers.
It's cold outside!

Got -3F this morning.
Prospective high today 7F, tomorrow 15F
Forecasted high next Monday: 35F

Trace of snow last night. It's very dry here. The rivers are low; so are the lakes.

When cold air moves south... I worry about the warm air that moves to the Arctic to replace it. nt TheBlackAdder Jan 2013 #1

were closed this winter and driving was dicey. Front wheel drive is flipping awesome! I'm in Grand Rapids. We usually get this in November.

They forecast lake effect snow last night, but I only got a dusting. Winds were calm.

This is a very strange winter, as was last year's. we haven't had hardly any snow. I am surrounded by the Manistee National Forest here and the snowmobiles are usually scooting down my road (unpaved) daily. I haven't seen or heard one this winter. There just isn't enough snow for them. As I said, it's very dry.

We got about 3" in town. It is weird. I really hope we don't have another spring like last year. If we do, it will interesting to see if that creep Amash refuses any federal funds to bail out the farmers. He had no problems asking last year, but he was also one of the cretins to vote against Sandy aid. I really wish someone would primary him. I despise him almost as much as I despise Rick The Dictator--the One Term Nerd. Arrgh!

The huge towering billowing white clouds from horizon to horizon. But it rarely gets to the fifty miles from Lake Michigan here.

Two years ago we were buried in snow here throughout the winter. Three years ago, even more.

Just added heating oil last week. Oi! 3.599 a gallon! That on fixed SocSec income.

Got the coffee pot hot and am gonna make cream of wheat this morning. Put a shot of bourbon in the first cup.

It's warm PJ's all day for me today.

Gotta keep ahead of the game. When your income is about a grand a month, you plan ahead and still get bitten in the arse.

But if I can make an excuse for a pajama day, life is good.

Got a book to read, life is good.
Got Friends? Life is good.
Got good music? Life is good.

Hot coffee! Life is good.
Simple things are good.

Thanks for your response.

Well, I wrote that next Monday's high was above freezing. Warm for end of January here.

Nice to hear. I am prepared for cold, not so much for snow. I live in the country and depend on neighborly kindness to plow my driveway. I have neither the strength nor the equipment to clear my driveway. But this is a farming community where people help each other out. And my driveway gets plowed every time there is a big snow.
