as long as there is lots of money to be made by private mercenaries and equivalent corporations.
However if there is a draft....the draft rules should be all men who have children go first (need to protect the gene pools and those guys have already made their contribution).

And the oldest men should serve first. and just like wanting to raise the retirement age...the draft age should also be expanded.
Lets see how the GOP 60 year old war-mongers feel if they are drafted in preference to silly 18-year-olds.

i think it is way to easy for politicians to send off kids who volunteered (often because they are poor and have few choices) to unecessary aggressive wars of choice. i think those decisions would be much more extensively debated and include stakeholders with political capital who politicians would listen to.

but i appreciate your point of view and the values i am sure inform them.

our rapists are blamed, shamed and punished instead of we women being told it's our fault for enticing men into becoming rapists.

On top of that, the UCMJ needs to better deal with sexual assaults in the military instead of telling us women to keep our mouths shut.

Is based on geographical locations. If you are in Iraq you get the money, no matter the job or sex. It is the same for all designated hostile areas. The UCMJ is pretty clear and plain on rape and sexual assault, it is the people entrusted to enforce it that are the root of the problem. Most of the top military leaders of this Generation have let all service members down and thus the American People.

Obviously not every woman (or man either) will be qualified as a combat soldier but they should all have the same opportunity.

If the country is being invaded or we are in the middle of World War III. There may be a need for a sudden increase in troop levels.

What we will never see again is a draft for a Vietnam-type war. The public doesnt have the stomach for that. But if our hand is forced into WWIII... we might need it.
