Wow - talk about not paying attention - either that or an inability to empathize
Women's rights have been pushed back 30-40 years over the past 10. Not everywhere, but enough to matter.
But no, they shouldn't be angry.
Women get paid less for the same work, but hey - they're WOMEN! They have periods and stuff!
Rape is not considered real rape by a good number of men in this country, and adults have gone out of the way to protect their children from punishment for raping.
But nope, Women are 100% treated equally here.
And before you make smart ass statements, please explain yourself. You come across like an ass otherwise.

(33,224 posts)Should feminists be angry? I don't know, but it's hard to argue that "Women get paid less for the same work" should be one of the reasons.

(33,224 posts)Anyone who credibly investigates the issue comes to the same conclusion. When behavioral differences are accounted for, the pay gap disappears.
One of the more remarkably illogical pieces of evidence given by those who believe strongly in the pay gap is the fact that self employed women are paid less than self employed men because of employment discrimination.
In that case, is the boss the person discriminating or being discriminated against?

(611 posts)Really, we should all be angry. But we should be trying to work toward productive solutions and progress. We keep fighting among ourselves about this and other topics. I've read some scary threads with a lot of insults and rage thrown around. Flame wars don't seem productive. Our political foes read this board, as do some who could be brought around to our side by calm, well-reasoned discussion and debate. I'm afraid the scary threads I've seen around here could leave some moderates or undecideds convinced that the Limbaughs in the media are correct when they vilify our side.
Please don't crush me like a bug.
