Netfilx's "House of Cards". The opening...

...was goddamned BRUTAL! A dog is hit by a car and the Congressman puts him down with his bare hands.

I hope the rest of the series doesn't use a dog's death as a metaphor or as any dramatic device. It had me in tears...

But, man, the opening was crushing for me (I love my dogs and it was more than I could handle, quite frankly).

I literally dive for the remote when the ASPCA spot comes on MSNBC. I just can't even look at those pictures. PatSet feels they'd get a better response if they showed frolicking animals with their loving new family, and I really wish they'd go that route.

My best friend in LA said that yesterday during his hike (up to the Hollywood sign) he saw a coyote wandering aimlessly, then saw a deer and its baby deer (don't know what they're called). We both were sad about it -- how we've just taken their habitat from them.

I'm doing OK. Still quite tired and some pain...

But I'm functioning, sort of!

Thanks for asking, sweetie...

I think the series is well done but I can only take so much conservative sliminess in one sitting. The original British produced House of Cards was outstanding and I ended up purchasing the DVD set. I'm not so sure I will enjoy the US remake as much.
