He died in 1902, after practicing in an office on Indiana Avenue, once a major African-American neighborhood here in Indy, for decades. I don't know why his gravesite remained unmarked for so long, especially in such a large, well-known cemetery like Crown Hill; but better late than never, I guess.

I actually lived near the Indiana Ave community when I relocated to Indianapolis in 1997. It's a beautiful area that has seen much expansion in the past 10 years or so.

Section 20, plot 7 at Crown Hill if you want to pay your respects. I think I'll do you that when the weather gets warmer. John Dillinger is in there somewhere too.
