(9,033 posts)And I know it's sappy but I just love Clydesdales. 'Course, wouldn't drink a Budweiser on a bet.
Edited to add: once-great Etrade baby is stale, GoDaddy just outright offensive--as always.

(40,416 posts)Nobody watches the game, only the commercials?
I choose... Other. Tonight it's opera, Le Nozze di Figaro. Better than a football game and certainly better than any commercial (even it uses pseudo Mozart tunes).
You are being led by your noses, so to speak.
Next year I might watch a Hitchcock flick, or two.
Anything's better than a commercial fest like the Stupid Bowl. They even have time outs for the infernal things.
Why doesn't everybody see this as what it is?
You may disagree, and you are welcome to your opinion. This post is not to cause a fight, but to help people to think.
If you like US football, that's cool. (I do not!) But when the championship game becomes about the great commercials, I think my point is made.
I hope you enjoyed your evening.

(40,416 posts)The opera was a classic recording. The wine with dinner was cheap, but very potable. The after dinner Manhattans were great (if I don't say so myself).
I am home now. But we did not discuss commercials during après opera discussion, and only a bit on how good it was. The rest was devoted to Paul Krugman, education policy, and finally silly jokes.
Sorry, no limericks, but I do have an unbuttoned podcast with Christopher Hitchens where he tells many (if you are interested). Many are very naughty. I may set that one up for some diversion for next year's Stupid Bowl.

(40,416 posts)Forget Pavaroti's head voice.
The best tenor since recorded music is Jussi Björling. Here he is in a stunning duet from Bizet's Pearl Fishers with the awesome baritone Robert Merrill.
Pavaroti, eat your heart out!
If that doesn't send chills down your spine, nothing will. Dated. But one of the best recordings ever.

(40,416 posts)On second thought, it's over 15 hours long and I don't think the bourbon and vermouth (nor I) will last through it.
There's still Hitchcock...
Maybe Rear Window. At least it has Grace Kelley, Jimmy Stewart, Raymond Burr, and the incredibly snarky Thelma Ritter. Good fun for all. (To say nothing of Miss Torso!)
Thanks, my friend.
