But their version of their own song is far and away the best of the lot.

Nirvana was/is very overrated.

But mostly, I wanted to highlight how the differences between artists can be WIDE, as is the case with some performances.

Is that it is amazing how songs can get reinterpreted - even songs by folk singers. I had NO IDEA Patti Smith did the original version of this, but it was cool to see the song I lost my mind to on the dance floor in the 90's was the version Nirvana did. Then Tori Amos played it on her piano that she manipulates like sex, and it was better. Only to find out, Patti Smith did it first

It was interesting to a whippersnapper like me.

I thought the story was that some of or references Smith's verse from a poem was incorporated into it, but Nirvana wrote the song and she covered it.
