Patti Smith
Nirvana
Tori Amos
Amazing how three different artists can have a different take on songs.

(22,143 posts)But their version of their own song is far and away the best of the lot.
Nirvana was/is very overrated.

(39,961 posts)She's got a relationship with the piano that rivals a hot, sweaty affair that spans decades.
I love my friends down under, flying and witnessing the Southern Cross!

(39,961 posts)Is that it is amazing how songs can get reinterpreted - even songs by folk singers. I had NO IDEA Patti Smith did the original version of this, but it was cool to see the song I lost my mind to on the dance floor in the 90's was the version Nirvana did. Then Tori Amos played it on her piano that she manipulates like sex, and it was better. Only to find out, Patti Smith did it first
It was interesting to a whippersnapper like me.

(34,214 posts)I thought the story was that some of or references Smith's verse from a poem was incorporated into it, but Nirvana wrote the song and she covered it.
Of Course she didn't write that song.

(39,961 posts)and I am just attempting to bring up good music. We have Mardi Gras coming here, and I feel like a young one most of the time since I am of the barely 40 set.
