Watching the meteorite videos from last night, my first thoughts were YIKES and omg, followed by memories of that old song. I grew up in that time and the suggestion that duck and cover would protect you from a nuke was idiotic.

Reading about the injuries today, and watching the videos, it reminds me that if you see a bright light outside, or in my part of the world have an earthquake, move away from the windows asap as windows blow out painfully. I hope all those injured in the shock wave heal, peace to them.

These are amazing times. All these disasters we've read about and only been able to imagine are now captured on video and sent instantly around the world.
The tsunami nightmares I've had since childhood are much more vivid and realistic these days. Now my subconscious is probably going to add this to the mix.

Watching how people reacted was instructive.
Look! a really weird contrail. Then flash blam crash.
The first Adult book I read when I managed to get into the Adult section of our library as a child was Hiroshima. Probably not a great first pick but I thought if I understood, I might be able to deal better with my fears. Must've been 1967 or so.
It is all amazing, we are riding around on bits of land on this water covered volcanic ridden mass through space. And yet to us it seems like here we are and all is about us.
