Is there a petition to them to add our own names to their "hit list"? As the wife of a Life Member of the NRA in a Household with guns, do not count me in your gun owners list. I would like very much to be considered one of your "gun grabbers". I would like nothing more than these guns in my home to be GONE.
I would like to see not only universal background checks, I would like to see universal background checks for everyone in that HOUSEHOLD. Can you say Nancy Lanza? I would like an end to the "honor system" gun gifts with just the gift giver undergoing a background check. Give a gift of a gun, even to a FAMILY MEMBER, THAT person must undergo a background check also. MAJOR Loophole here. Trust that "good guy" to give a gun gift to somebody who might have a felony or mental illness? Why should the recipient of this gift not have to go through a background check also. Why should only SALES of guns require background checks? I also favor universal REGISTRATION for all guns, whether a sale or a gift. This would go even farther to keep track of guns.
I would like not only background checks for TRANSFERS of guns, but also for every member of that household, and one also for gifts. I favor all the President's gun violence proposals from those assault weapons, number of clips, etc. I admit I am not technically up to par on this, despite living in a one of your gun households (sic). I choose NOT to be. While you probably cannot understand this, NRA, understand that it is MY RIGHT as an American citizen too.
So, NRA, I think I qualify as one of your "gun grabbers". I want to be added to your enemies list.

(60,074 posts)In lieu of what you are saying, I'd like to see a system where whoever bought the gun is considered responsible for any crimes or accidents that occur with that gun unless he or she has an official record of transfer of the gun to another person. That means if the gun is used by someone else, for example the "giftee" in a crime, the buyer gets a jail term.
Because, let's face it. "Gifting" the gun is not much different from being a straw purchaser for gun trafficking.

(32,354 posts)People and organizations listed by Nixon as enemies wore that designation as a life-long badge of honor, and those who weren't listed were envious. The same thing is now happening with the NRA's listing, and deservedly so.
