(130,538 posts)Because that's the only kind of heart attack those two maladroits could give anybody.
Would be cool if somebody would set up a bogus "exploratory committee" to lure those two egomaniacal nitwits into actually doing it. Though at the end, I'm sure Karl Rove's money men would put a stop to the whole thing.
Still, I'd pay good money to watch the spectacle.

(39,376 posts)The last time Palin was of any relevance was 2008. By the time 2015 comes around there will be no more Milf Factor. The Nuge hasn't been of relevance since he fronted Jackyl.
Please run as the Teabagger ticket and funnel off a dozen votes from whatever loon the repukes put up.

(12,336 posts)You may be thinking of Jesse James Dupree, who I actually met once.
The Jackyl I am thinking of had a hit song about Lumberjack or something like that. And they opened for Thorogood when I saw them and met Dupree. Now it is possible that they opened for nugent at one time. After all, nugent was a "headliner" at one time.

I see what you did there. But it is my understanding, to avoid going to Vietnam he not only pooped himself but pissed all over himself and didn't bathe for weeks. He kind of looks like he never broke that habit...

(23,156 posts)re-define the word "landslide", the genuinely horrifying thing is that millions of Americans would actually vote for them. It is almost impossible to overestimate the level of stupidity in this country.

(60,186 posts)Don't forget, the Republican ticket is guaranteed 42% of the vote, even if they run Roger Rabbit and Huckleberry Hound as their president and vice-president. I wish that were something from the Onion, but it's closer to the truth. That's scary, not funny.

(10,000 posts)Ain't gonna happen...but cute.
A campaign with Nugent would last about 3 days under serious media scrutiny.
Maybe...maybe Palin takes another shot in 2016. She'd have to reinvent herself a la "the New Dick Nixon." More likely she continues in her role as Tea Party endorser and speaker. I can't see her getting more than 45% of the vote under the best of circumstances -- meaning the Dems nominated someone wildly unpopular. Running against Hillary Clinton, she might only get 5 states and 35-40% of the popular vote. (ID, WY, AK, UT, OK) (and AK wouldn't be a sure-thing).
The wingnut I see them all falling in love with is Dr. Ben Carson (I've posted on him over in Propaganda Debunking).

(2,986 posts)My mom, an 82 year-old Limbaugh fangirl, who constantly listens to right wing hate radio when not watching right wing hate TV (Fox)... and who was an actual delegate to the convention in Tampa... is hyperventilating over this guy. She called on Friday night to (breathlessly) BEG me to sit my 14-year-old in front on the TV to watch the Hannity show... featuring the new Republican Great Black Hope. (Since Powell and Cain didn't pan out...) My son is the kind of kid who has watched Colbert at the Correspondents' Dinner multiple times, and only watches Fox clips when they are the object of ridicule on the Daily Show, Colbert, etc., so you know, her attempts at indoctrination will have no more effect on him than they did on me. (Back in the day...) But she still keeps trying. (With me, too.) I read the transcripts of Carson's very self-promoting (and underwhelming) performance at the Prayer Breakfast (couldn't stomach actually watching it)... and if the transcripts are correct, he referred to Republican lawyers and "Democrat" lawyers. (God deliver me from another obnoxious Republican...) And how we have to resist being PC ... and (for example) get over being "afraid" to say Merry Christmas. (Oh, brother... I live in Satan's own paradise-- San Francisco-- and even here, there have been no signs of that bogus "War on Christmas"... unless they mean the complete commercialization of said religious holiday-- which they don't.) And other stuff... (Lame policy proposals and self-promotion, mainly.) The guy has a very inspirational back story, and is a renowned surgeon... but Jeez. Now they want to run him for president because he "spoke to truth to power" (they actually use those words!) by breaking with the decades long tradition of bipartisanship at the breakfast, and saying stuff that could be interpreted as critical of the President. But... the BEST part is he's black!!! (See?!!! Republicans aren't racist!!!!)

Personally, I think Ted Nugent and Sarah Palin are the perfect face for the Republican Party, and we should be plastering them everywhere!
