(103,856 posts)If the US withheld info it had nothing to do with Canada telling the story as it happened to their people..
The whole "movie" thing was an embellishment for dramatic effect.

(1,113 posts)But I have to say I have watched the movie Argo and it's great. I'm not watching a documentary, I'm watching a movie that has (to me) heart stopping scenes, remembering the news from that time helps. I've read all the stories of the things that did not happen, but are in the movie. That's fine with me. It's a movie.

(28,858 posts)I saw Argo and, after some research, realized that it did serious disservice to former President Carter, Great Britain, New Zealand, and to some extent the Canadians.
Then I discovered that there was a 1981 version, but Netflix doesn't have it. I don't know if I can watch it online, but I'll give it a try.
Thank you!

(103,856 posts)maybe even Hulu.. I remembered watching it and when the Argo people kept saying this was top secret, I kept thinking "there was another dramatic Canadian embassy escape?" because I saw this movie 20 years ago
