Chinese As A Second Language In USA

Unless we do an about face on outsourcing get ready to learn Mandarin Chinese or some other dialect. If the Chamber of Commerce, the GOP, conservatives and Mitt Rawmoney have their way you children and grandchildren will either be working in China or somewhere overseas or Chinese will become a major language in the US.

This election will be about whether we become a Chinese protectorate economically or whether we will hold and turn back the tide.
If you examine all the GOP rhetoric they support the Chinese flag and not "Old Glory). Romney was even ready to turn our car industry over to overseas interests including China where we no have major auto plants.

Forget national security. It sounds like their new jet fighter that looks like our can beat our F-22 and F-35 in combat. I wonder where they got so much of that technology.

That is why Republicans' children should be sent to future wars. We will have one with China eventually.

I know that much of this statement sounds over the top. But if you look at the growth of their army and navy with a new aircraft carrier it will not take long for them to catch up. A "sleeping dragon" awaits your children or grandchildren if the GOP gets its way.

Obama may not be perfect but he will be the only viable choice. Forcing the Democrats to the left is the only other choice.

Will quickly run out of the components we need for our weapons systems and my guess is that they won't be selling them to us in the middle of a war.

You are certainly right about that. What alerted me even more is looking at videos of our fighters on Youtube. Even though they can do some really wild things, there were other posts revealing possible failings of these programs versus the Russian and Chinese versions of the same kind of fighter jet technology. It looks like neither of these two fighters can beat either the Russians or Chinese versions in a face to face dogfight. The only advantage the F-22 and F-35 might have according to analysts is range.

There is another sleeper. The Chinese have supposedly been developing a missile that can sink a carrier and has a range farther than any of our aircraft. It is like the same problem that our battleships had with the German battleships in WWII. Their guns were 18 inch and had 3 miles more in range. And that was a huge difference.

For one the arms race continues in earnest and the media ignores it. Our outsourcing is giving the Chinese access to almost all of our secrets. And they ARE getting ready.

First, there's little evidence that the Chinese have a "5th generation" fighter. There's been some pictures of a prototype. Sitting on the ground. To claim their fighters are better is premature at best. The Russians have a design, but can't afford to build more than a few. Again the performance of the Russian model at this point is largely unknown.

Second, the "carrier killer" missile isn't particular new or interesting. It's a ballistic missile, like the V-2. What's new is they put a guidance system on it so they can actually target a carrier. Sounds terrifying....until you note that the US Navy explicitly built anti-ballistic missile systems into our new cruisers and destroyers, which will be sailing next to the carriers. Could they kill a carrier? Maybe. But it's not the threat it's been made out to be.

On the other hand, those threats do help defense contractors get lots more money.

Max size for germany was 15". Japan on the other hand did have 18" with a max range difference of 2 miles. However it wasn't a big problem due to the fact that the longest range hit occured by a british ship with 15" guns at a range less than that a US ship could shoot.

Their carrier-killer missile is a ballistic missile (medium-range) with a conventional warhead. If any US ship or base detects one of these coming towards them, they will assume it has a nuclear warhead and won't wait until it detonates to detemine that (i.e. US nukes likely start flying).

They're far more isolationist than we are.

Plus, they're already getting piles of cash from us. War cuts off that cash flow. As an added bonus, we could cancel the parts of the US debt that they bought. China has also had a recent string of terrible crop failures. We're feeding them. War = famine, for the moment.

And while China's had a fantastic decade, they're starting to have their own internal problems. Their entire society is currently built on unsustainable growth, and they're reaching the limits of that growth. "Get a masters degree then have to work at McDonalds" is not a western phenomena anymore. Additionally, China's started creating a middle class. Middle classes have enough time and security to think about concepts like "freedom". Add that to 'the kids' having trouble finding work, and you start getting unrest.

But if you look at the growth of their army and navy with a new aircraft carrier it will not take long for them to catch up

They have 1. It's not even a full-size carrier and can't fly "conventional" planes. It was bought from the Russians. They are building 1. We currently have 11, full-size carriers, and we're building 2 more, The plan is to retire 2 old ones, but if things start heating up they don't have to be retired. It will take a very long time for them to catch up.
