So if Corporation are people, my friend, shouldn't they be paying Medicare and SSI...
Just wondering, you know this corporation as people idea. If they are, well then all profits should be taxed after the fact 7.65% on the "Person" and then kick in the other 7.65% that the corporation, acting as a company, should pay the match.
Just wondering. We can send them checks when they retire on the Cayman Islands and pay for all their medical costs. They can relax and hang out at the pool with the Limited Partnerships and S-Corporations. You know what they say about S-Corp, those little devils....

1. Those Limited Liability Corporations hog the lounge chairs at the pool, I've heard.
I've also heard a rumor that S-Corporations pee in the pool!

3. I assume a corporation is counted as one person. If so, then they would only be taxed the maximum
amount of SS and Medicare - peanuts to a corporation.

4. Still, they should be paying, I'm just saying...
The medicare doesn't hit an income level cut off like SSI does....
1.45% of a billion dollars would be a real infusion into the system. |

8. Good point. That would definitely take care of the problem - with money left over!

5. If they are people, they should pay the same taxes all around as
people, and this nonsense about "corporate income tax" rates that are less than human income tax rates needs to stop.

7. Only wages are taxed for SS
And corporations don't get wages.
Also, would you give them benefits in return? And if so, then how? |

9. I heard someone say they'd agree that corporations are people when Texas executes one.
It's a good line...

11. Not just that, but they should be subject to incarceration and execution.
Specifically, if a company commits a crime, in addition to prosecuting the individuals behind the crime, the company itself should be prosecuted independently. Incarceration would mean a period during which they could not conduct any business of any kind. Execution would mean exactly what it sounds like it means.
I know it is unrealistic, but if you're going to call a corporation a "person" then it should be subject to the same penalties as a petty pot dealer or a murderer. They want it both ways and as of now they have it both ways. Oh, and they should get one vote in elections held in the precinct of the corporate headquarters. And if the corporate headquarters is located off-shore then they neither get a vote, or are considered people. What Citizens United did to our country is beyond absurd. |

13. Equal Protection
More to the point if they are people then why can not we be afforded those sweet Bankruptcy protections and tax advantages they get.
