please read these quotes from Jesus. I post them not to make a religious point but to put the thoughts of the man (who the reactionaries caim as their own) in perspective.
Luke 12
13 One of the men in the crowd said to Jesus, “Teacher, our father just died and left some things for us. Tell my brother to share them with me.”

14 But Jesus said to him, “Who said I should be your judge or decide how to divide your father’s things between you two?” 15 Then Jesus said to them, “Be careful and guard against all kinds of greed. People do not get life from the many things they own.”

16 Then Jesus used this story: “There was a rich man who had some land. His land grew a very good crop of food. 17 He thought to himself, ‘What will I do? I have no place to keep all my crops.’

18 “Then he said, ‘I know what I will do. I will tear down my barns and build bigger barns! I will put all my wheat and good things together in my new barns. 19 Then I can say to myself, I have many good things stored. I have saved enough for many years. Rest, eat, drink, and enjoy life!’

20 “But God said to that man ‘Foolish man! Tonight you will die. So what about the things you prepared for yourself? Who will get those things now?’

21 “This is how it will be for anyone who saves things only for himself. To God that person is not rich.”

There are many gods and the god the rich worship is not the god of the bible, it is the god of GREED

Jesus repeatedly tells us that those who engage in material pursuits cannot be righteous nor can they enter the kingdoms of God.

It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God. ~Jesus, Matt 19:24, Mark 10:24, Luke 18:25

No man can serve two masters: Ye cannot serve God and Mammon. ~Jesus, Matt 6:24, Luke 16:13

They worship the Lord, but serve other gods. ~2 Kings 17:33

4. The just shall live by his faith...

I find it abhorrent that so many people adopt a posture of faith to criticize Obama on healthcare and safety net measures for the weakest in society.

More than once I've said to such people, you can show more about your faith in God by helping others, even at your own expense, and let God replenish you since you're the one claiming to be a believer.

If you don't have a generous heart when you only have two dimes to rub together, when you have an abundance, it won't change.

i belong to a liberal church and we believe the way to demonstrate our faith and salvation in Christ is through our works.

"By their fruits ye shall know them. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?"

Would you join (or at least respect) a church that blesses your same-sex marriage (grapes, and figs), or one that tells you you are going to hell because of something Christ never even preached about (thorns and thistles).
