Second sinkhole discovered in Seffner
SEFFNER, FL -
Hillsborough County officials are investigating a second sinkhole in Seffner, Fla.
At this hour, crews are on the scene of the 1200 block of Cedar Tree Lane. The sinkhole, located behind a home, is roughly 10 feet deep.
The sinkhole was discovered around 4:00pm Monday afternoon, less than 2 miles from the scene of last week's sinkhole that left one man dead.

Hillsborough County Code Enforcement is on the scene. Officials say there are no injuries nor structural damage at this time.

(89,260 posts)are they not able to tell areas where sinkholes are likely ?
Wasn't necessarily unsound to begin with. The farmers have been allowed to suck over a billion gallons from aquifers and ground water in order to protect crops (in this area strawberries) from freezes. Over time that destabilizes the ground our homes sit on.

It tends to collapse.
"Sinkholes are a common problem in the state, according to the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Florida lies on bedrock made of limestone or other carbonate rock that can be eaten away by acidic groundwater, forming voids that collapse when the rock can no longer support the weight of what's above it.
Hillsborough County, on Florida's west coast, is part of an area known as "sinkhole alley" that accounts for two-thirds of the sinkhole-related insurance claims in the state, according to a Florida state Senate Insurance and Banking Committee report."

I did not know until today that Fla. homeowners have to buy sink hole insurance..it was mentioned in an article about the sinkhole that swallowed up that poor guy last week.

(345 posts)like we do for hurricanes and floods, but the kicker is unlike those insurances, the insurance companies are allowed to refuse you sinkhole insurance based on where you live. When this change went into effect, a couple of years ago, we immediately asked for coverage from our insurer and were denied even a survey.

(69,059 posts)Reptilians (also called reptoids,[1] reptiloids, or draconians) are purported reptilian humanoids that play a prominent role in science fiction, as well as modern ufology and conspiracy theories.[2][3][4] The idea of reptilians on Earth was popularized by David Icke, a conspiracy theorist who says shape-shifting reptilian people control our world by taking on human form and gaining political power to manipulate our societies. Icke has claimed on multiple occasions that many of the world leaders are, or are possessed by, reptilians attempting to gain power to rule the world.[citation needed]

(40,416 posts)All these conspiracy theories have their roots in culture. For instance, who ever heard of grey aliens before they appeared in movies like "Close Encounters of the Third Kind"?
These people just crave attention.
