Glue On And Gallop Off: The Slip-On Horse Shoe

Glue On And Gallop Off: The Slip-On Horse Shoe Designed In Tyne and Wear

A Gateshead designer has created a range of slip-on horseshoes that could revolutionise the hoof repair business.

Made from plastic, the shoes can be glued to the horse's foot rather than nailed on, avoiding the potential trauma and pain of fitting traditional metal shoes.

...

"Farriers nailed steel shoes to horses' feet back then because that was their only option, but now we have designed a much more comfortable option for horses which makes much better sense, and helps fix worn and tired hooves."

...

The GluShu concept, which is the first of its kind to be created in the UK, has evolved from a similar idea pioneered in the United States.

The American design requires the horse to stand still for more than 15 minutes, which often means tranquilising the animal.

Mr Wright's GluShu has been developed further and can be fitted in an average time of three minutes.
