What really happened to Seamus?"URGENT CRATE-GATE UPDATE: Did Mitt Romney Lie About Fate of Seamus?"

From Dogs Against Romney

URGENT CRATE-GATE UPDATE: Did Mitt Romney Lie About Fate of Seamus?

We all know the sad story of Seamus, the Romney family Irish Setter who was strapped to the top of the Romney station wagon for at least one 12-hour trip to Canada – and who at least once pooped himself in fear and, after being given an “emotion-free” hosing down by Mitt Romney, was placed once more atop the car for more terrifying hours on the highway.

The Romney family has said previously that Seamus was given away to Romney’s sister after this fateful trip, and lived out the last of his days on a lovely farm.

But now new questions emerge.

According to Hunter Walker, writing for the Politicker NY, a blog of the New York Observer, Mitt Romney “may not have told the whole truth about the scandalous tale.”

According to a “trusted Politicker tipster,” Walker says, “two of Romney’s sons had an off-the-record conversation with reporters” in which they revealed that Seamus actually “ran away when they reached their destination” in Canada.

As of this writing, says Walker, “the Romney campaign has not responded to multiple requests for comment on this story.”

What is the truth about Seamus' fate? Did he live out his days on a bucolic farm, as Romney has said? Or was he abandoned somewhere in Canada, alone, to fend for himself?

Flashbacks to Bush's years prior to holding an office. These two could be twins when it comes to "compassion".

I would suppose that Seamus is dead, but he has been baptized into the Mormon Church, Canine Division. It's a god-eat-dog world out there.

he's a sadistic asshole just on the broad outlines of the story. And for someone like me, it is a meaningful insight into what is wrong with this guy.

But Romney, himself, says this was part of some sort of going away trip?

The Newt Gingrich campaign released an attack ad featuring a kitchen sink’s worth of clunky Mitt Romney moments, but the undisputed star of the clip is Seamus, the Romney’s Irish setter, who was famously strapped to the roof of the Romney family station wagon for a long road trip. Don’t worry, though. The ad shows Romney explaining, to Fox News’ Chris Wallace, that Seamus was safely inside a “completely airtight kennel.”

euthanization of the family pet when there was no apparent reason for doing so other than convenience. And when both reasons are used with different audiences it is almost a certainty as to what occurred, imo.

"The dog ran away" is the euphemism of choice to use with young children, because obviously if the dog just disappears one afternoon it is a believable one. And the kids aren't going to pester you to go "visit Seamus on his farm".

Romney's Dog Problem Deepens

More details on what's become known as Crate-gate:

Mitt Romney may not have told the whole truth about the scandalous tale of his Irish Setter, Seamus, being strapped to the roof of his car during a 12-hour family road trip to Canada. According to a trusted Politicker tipster, two of Mr. Romney’s sons had an off-record conversation with reporters where they revealed the dog ran away when they reached their destination on that infamous journey in 1983. Mr. Romney’s wife, Ann, has previously said Seamus survived the trip and went on to live to a "ripe old age." As of this writing, Mr. Romney’s campaign has not responded to multiple requests for comment on this story.

Rusty is sticking with the story as it develops. The Obama campaign is already making hay.

Now that ya think about it, I wonder why it never came up before since it would only make sense that they brought him back home the same way but nothing was ever said about the return trip.
