URGENT: From Defenders of Wildlife
January 31, 2012
Your tax dollars could be used to pay for an ill-conceived aerial wolf cull in Northeastern Idaho -- an unscientific plan to boost game population that could kill as many as two-thirds of the wolves in the Lolo District of the
Clearwater National Forest.
Defender's of Wildlife is calling on President Obama and his administration to deny
Idaho's request to have federal agents carry out wolf killing in Idaho.
Urge President Obama to direct Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack to deny Idaho's request for federal resources to carry out the Lolo aerial wolf cull.

lob1,
Nice to know that at least one person cares what happens to those beautiful animals..
They are scheduled to be shot at from helicopters by federal Wildlife Services' sharpshooters at taxpayer expense!!
Solely to help the damn elk hunters (who apparently are hunting elk in a
National Forest).

(4,507 posts)I'll be shocked and incredibly happy (was going to put this more graphically, but figured it would get alerted).
Such an animal-friendly choice, Vilsack.

(27,816 posts)It's up to President Barack Obama, not Tom Vilsack to do the right thing here.
It just seems like a "no-brainer" to me for the White House to use it's Executive Power here and tell the state of Idaho...NO...We're not going to use federal money and personnel to kill off 2/3rds of the wolves living in Clearwater National Park...on the off-chance that it's the wolves' fault that the elk & deer hunters are having a harder time picking out a beautiful elk, deer (or wolf) to shoot through the head.
This should be an easy choice for a president who wants to be re-elected this November....Think about it, Mr. President, there are an awful lot of animal lovers out there..
This is not a case of wolf vs livestock....It's a case of wolf vs hunter,
pure & simple
These are wolves living in Clearwater National Park...a NATIONAL PARK..
Owned by the people of the United States, not the hunters of Northern Idaho.
Using federal funds & personnel to shoot wolves from helicopters, so some elk hunters will have a few more elk to kill?
"Mr President, Please save these wolves..
a lot of people will be grateful to you if you do the right thing here
save the lives of 75 wolves, and save the American taxpayer some dough at the same time.
Mr President....This one is a No-Brainer.

(27,816 posts)I apologize for posting again about the "Lolo 75" as they're now being called...
but the decision is being made right now.....and it's important enough to re-post it..
.it's the same petition
...but time is of the essence here,
.in order to save these wolves' lives.
