A serious question?

Does either Party want to get the money out of politics? Will anything ever change if this is not done?

The President has said that he wants to raise a billion dollars for his next campaign. The Repubs are going nuts with the new Citizens United decision and are raising money by the truckloads.

Will it ever end?

Funny I was thinking the same thing this week. We have to get the money out of politics first.

2. The problem is that the current system is weighted in favor of incumbents.

I think a lot of elected Democrats (and some Republicans) do want to change the system. Many support public financing of campaigns, which would make a huge difference. But unfortunately, because the current system strongly favors those in power -- who can use their position of power to attract donations from monied interests -- those in power have a disincentive to change it.

and in my opinion, the only way to change it is from the grass roots. That means we have to change our own Party if we are to make any progress at all.

Or should we wait until after the election to address it??

because of the nature of politics, the money will swing their way too.
It is up to us to get the decision reversed. Montana has taken a huge first step, California is doing the same thing.

Corporations are NOT people. Money is not speech.
Campaigns will be publicly financed, tv will provide equal air time to the candidates.

One state, region at a time.

Others will be ignored or ridiculed.
