(24,331 posts)I won't be able to afford one probably for 10 years, but I can still drool. Preferably over the 85 kilowatt-hour battery, and the metallic blue color scheme.

(23,796 posts)I wish I had the cashflow to be a first adopter. Sadly, I think I'll join the electric revolution with an Evolve scooter.

(33,688 posts)The Tesla is a damned good looking car in any case, and I am a serious car guy at heart.

The bottom of the car is a long thin compartment where the batteries are stored. Then the motor is right near the rear axle. There is a truck in the front where an engine would be in most cars, then there is a storage compartment in the back (with jump seats which I thought was weird) where the trunk would be.
The first time I saw this thing I had to walk around it wondering where the motor and batteries were.
I expect other electric vehicles to copy this design. It makes much more sense than any other electric vehicle design that I have seen and I make a point of going to the Detroit Auto Show (almost) every year to check on the new technologies.

There is an optional battery package that allows the S to go up to 300 miles on a charge. Just thought I would throw that out there.
