I really hate this mouse wheel on the new mouse I got (trivial thread)

I was all excited about buying my new mouse and getting it from Amazon, and now I find out the mouse wheel is extra stiff and hard to roll, and it is pissing me off. I'm actually going to have to return it, which is a hassle, just because I like to use the scroll wheel a lot, and I know this thing would drive me batty. A trivial and small thing, but damn, it just is a shame, because I love the mouse in other respects. My trivial complaint of the day!

My grandmother always used a 50/50 mix of ear wax and spit.

then if it fucked it up, I wouldn't be able to return it (in good conscience).

I read that, in general on a new mouse, sometimes the mouse wheel can be stiff at first, and then loosen up after a few days, I'm hoping it will do so, but I'm not optimistic. This thing seems stiff as a board! I actually have to use some pressure to turn the damn thing!

It's categorized as a "gaming mouse" but I just use it for regular everyday stuff, and it works great for that. One extra feature I really appreciate is the scroll speed buttons right on the mouse, so when I need really fine control for something like detail work in Photoshop, it's just a quick click to change it and another to change back when done.

I'm looking at another mouse instead right now to replace it, the Mionix Naos 3200.

If the wheel had the ability to make it completely "free spinning", I would do that. But it doesn't have that ability.

That wheel will be plenty lubricated before you find the bottom of the bucket, I guarantee it.

It will void the warranty but there are often springs and stuff that can be mucked around with. FWIW I always buy things like keyboard and mice at a physical store where I can play with them as ergonomics are so important to me.
