How old are you anyway?

Do you remember when Pet Rocks (Beanie Babies, Furbies, Cabbage Patch Kids, Teddy Ruxpin, etc) were all the rage and everyone had to have one only to eventually realize that they only had to have because OTHER people had one and they were measuring their self worth by whether they possessed an object that was never worth what they paid for it and was, in the end, a fad?

Yeah, iPhones are like that. Moderately more useful, but faddish in the extreme. There are currently at least a half dozen Android phones that are superior to Apple's latest offering. iPhones aren't bad mind you; I'm no hater, but they are in NO way worth the adulation the fanbois bestow upon them. Nor the price paid for them. If you want to pay a premium to solidify your "cool kids" cred, be my guest, but if you want the best mobile device for your money on the market you might want to have a look at Samsungs. Or perhaps Huawei. Even LG is building a solid lineup.

I have 4s 64g it has plenty of storage, can port the internet okay, can play videos, calculator, instant access to my 513 music albums, takes messages, access to most any radio station, has cool mapping, has a clock and calendar that is never wrong and can take and store short videos and pictures on the fly.

I had another nokia smart phone about three years prior, it sucked and seemed it could hardly half of the Iphone can do and cost almost as much. I paid off the contract to verizon, quit it and did without a cell phone for few years. The Nokia seemed like too much money for not as much value.

What i like most about the Iphone is seems bullet proof, has good support and lots of tweaking with software updates that have seemed to make work better all the time

i keep all my music on a 64Gb flash drive and the stereo in my truck has a USB port. I can calculate in my head about as fast as you can push the buttons. I don't worry about "Death by GPS" When I walk out the door, I don't want to be bothered, 90% of the time I don't even have my phone turned on. And it only costs me about $8/mo.

And I don't get so distracted by what I'm doing on the phone that I step out in front of traffic. Which I have seen more than once.

Mon Mar 18, 2013, 09:30 AM
Mar 2013

I am not saying the Iphone is the best at anything but that is one thing i think is cool is how it displays all the music with the artwork of the albums and you can scroll through it really fast. I just had issue with mine recently. I am not really a techno geek so much but i couldn't figure out why it wouldn't ring when people called me. I mostly only make outgoing calls with it. I turn out the switch on the top left is kind of like an ordinary switch up and down that turns off the ringer (i guess it's fast that way).

Yea if i had lots of time i would geek around with it but like you said the screen is small, my fingers are too large and my eyesight is not that great. I do most of the tweaking and input to it from the desktop. I don't really fuss with it much or get distracted. It has shuffle with the music which seems cool. when on shuffle it will play some obscure stuff and lot of good stuff. I think its got some kind of formula that works on shuffle so it's interesting. I play it at work at a moderate level and most everybody likes it because i have all kinds of music on it so it shuffles well.

JUST because someone opts for Android or Windows does not mean that one hates Apple.

Question - Remember what happens when there is zero competition in the marketplace?

If everyone ONLY owns an iphone - or if Apple gets a monopoly on handsets - then what next?

Apple lovers NEED those of us that select less expensive devices and those of us that don't have a need or a desire for itunes and such. You need us to make sure Apple gets to continue doing business as usual - but with competition in the marketplace.

Give me an iPhone any day. The android os is trash plain and simple. Battery life is crap. Phone is buggy and reminds of my youth. When I was a kid samsung made cheap crappy electronics. 35 years later they are still making cheap crappy electronics. And the navigation, well google regularly gives me wrong directions or can't find my destination. Give me a break, if apple put out such a big piece of shit they would never hear the end of it. This my 4th and last android phone. Pure junk. Not too mention how unregulated the apps are. I recently downloaded the apple app for a popular free poker game. I then downloaded the google play version, what a joke. The google version nothing but an endless supply of spam, the apple version is nothing but poker. Coming from a die hard pc guy praises for apple have been rare. But the longer I use apple products the more I love them.
