Watching "The Men Who Built America."

Right now, they're talking about the Homestead steel strike in the 1880s. Too bad people are no longer aware of stories like this, considering that we are sliding back to the same conditions that led to this.

Funny to read that people are 'no longer aware' of something that you are in fact watching on TV.

They idolize people like Carnegie and Frick, because they were rich and gave a lot of money to public works. But it took the Johnstown flood to make Carnegie begin to have a conscience, and Frick never had one. He was an evil bastard.

I have forgotten more American history than you'll ever bother to learn, especially the late 18th and 19th centuries.

Trust me, even if you gave Bill the best BJ he's ever had (and according to persistent rumors, that wouldn't be hard) he still wouldn't give you the time of day, let alone a tip.

But, at least you're always good for a chuckle and kick or two to a deserving thread.

Here's one that should require a Pavlovian reply; M$ has never created a single application or OS that wasn't a complete clusterfuck, not one that wasn't inferior to virtually every other comparable application on the market. What they can't steal, they buy and destroy, either through their own incompetence or to keep the superior product off the market. If it wasn't for mommy's money and connections he would be managing a fast food franchise for somebody else, and be lucky to have that.

To the jury: This poster has been carrying on this bizarre campaign for months. Please consider that this is simply a continuation of what appears to be an obsessive compulsion on the part of this poster.

to deny Gates has not given millions and millions to many charities is pure 100% lying.

And the only Bizarre Campaign I have carried on is calling out your biased BS.

LOL, "wasn't inferior virtually every other comparable application on the market". You crack me up.

I've turned them down several times over the years, although I did take one fat contract with them. Do you happen to have a MCSD cert?

I have never once denied that he has hidden, not millions and millions, but tens of billions (that's thousands and thousands of millions, just in case) behind his tax shelter. And since you like to imply that you know what you're talking about, name one app (or OS, if you dare) that M$ has created that was even equal to its competitors, let alone superior.

You like people to think you are smart, now is your chance to prove it.

Have to do with anything? You trying to brag more?

Pretty clear at this point that some company you worked for got their ass kicked by MS.

So, you are stating that Gates has not gave any money to a legit charity? So I can not prove that Gates gave actual money to a charity that spent the money to help people. That is your claim?

certification is relevant. It is relevant because helping develop it was the one contract I did accept with them.

Most of the companies I worked for made hundreds of millions, sometimes billions of dollars fixing the messes M$ software made, so you see, if I was as short-sighted and grasping as you, I would love M$. Unfortunately, I was in the business before Gates used his family connections to secure enough corporate welfare to leverage market dominance and evade prosecution for his crimes, and so am acutely aware of how much better all of this should be.

I have stated exactly what I wrote, if you are incapable of comprehending writing at an 8th grade level, perhaps you should devote some of your time in addressing that issue instead of leaping to the defense of people that are creating the hell on earth that you will live in.

And finally, since you have not ventured to put forth any candidates in answer to my question, I can only assume that you either don't know what you're talking about or that you do, and therefore know full well that M$ software is inefficient, bloated crap an don't want to admit it. Either way, we have once again come to the point where you slink back into your anonymity and pretend that the whole thing never happened.

But we did kick this thread a few times, which was my primary goal all along. Watching you squirm is only a minor bonus.

Much love,
Ivan

Edited to add that you should at least rec the thread.

How cute.

The rags to riches bill gates who gives all his money to charity while somehow still remaining an uber zillionare.

I'm sure he doesn't get publicity, tax write-offs, special legislation, monopolistic contracts or anything for his kind, kind, sharing heart.

Well, except for that federal government contract his mumsy got him back in the 80s. I'm sure that didn't help him much at all.

Hero worship. It's just so danged precious. But then, I grew up on "Stairway to Heaven."

*sigh* My hero worship days died when it was reported Audey Murphey was a womanizer. I was about 7...maybe 8.
