i guess it's not bad work if you can get it.
and yes, i would definitely begrudge that shitstain and his staff a cup of taxpayer-funded coffee. a doughnut? hell no. let them eat bile and drink tears.
sometimes it's not the money, it's the principle.
Skinner
(63,645 posts)He probably has hundreds of people coming through his office every day. No harm in giving them some coffee to drink.

(65,616 posts)and would admonish US if WE were getting free coffee and donuts. Probably call it welfare. Why are ' free handouts' okay for them and not for us? You might consider this story BS but it also shows their hypocrisy.

(26,451 posts)The Washington Times' readership.
These pieces keep the conservative base simmering. Granted $2500/month is a lot for coffee, but I wonder what all they got for that. Remember last year's $12 muffins?

(115,186 posts)I can imagine with the amount of visitors and meetings there, that amount isn't unreasonable.
hfojvt
(37,573 posts)and why should visitors get free coffee?
Or, as the Republicans like to say "there is no free lunch" somebody pays for it.

(62,444 posts)I don't know what kind of working conditions are expected for the legislature of the United States, but coffee and donuts don't strike me as a big deal.

Maybe the Washington Times could focus on the hundreds of billions being lost in tax revenue from loopholes, tax havens and other policies that benefit the rich.
One billion dollars can buy a lot of coffee.

(53,339 posts)Their paltry spending on coffee may explain their lack of energy for actually doing something besides obstructing. Why not give them a BIGGER coffee budget? It certainly couldn't hurt.
