Welcome to North Dakota ;-(

North Dakota lawmakers on Friday approved a proposed amendment to the state constitution that could make the state the first to define life as beginning at conception, which would effectively outlaw all abortions.

__________

So a fetus is a person is North Dakota. Does this mean a fetus can be listed as a dependent to the IRS ?

The proposed state constitutional amendment would declare that a fertilized human egg is a legal person. Critics of the measure, including Planned Parenthood and many other pro-choice groups, say it would effectively redefine abortion and some forms of birth control as murder.
The measure, dubbed the "personhood" amendment, would not take effect unless voters approved it in the 2014 general election.
"If we can determine that a seed is the definition of a plant, then we can certainly decide that an embryo is a human," said Republican representative Dan Ruby, a supporter of the proposed state constitutional amendment.

9. Yes, it should be found unconstitutional in short order.

Apparently, North Dakota has plenty of money to waste on frivolous challenges to Roe v. Wade.

5. I wonder if they'll have to stop in vitro fertilization there?

After all, they fertilize multiple eggs for the process and if any of them dies, it would be murder.

8. You sure that's North Dakota? There are trees on the horizon.

Yeah, from living there for 45 years, I know North Dakota does have trees on the horizon. There is where most of them are too, on the horizon.
That picture IS what rural ND does look like, gravel road and all. There are no fences because fences interferes with farming the ditches and sometimes even the road right of way.
70,762 square miles and a population of 699,628 = almost 10 people per square mile. The unemployment rate is around 3% because when the kids get old enough to leave, they do.

10. Looks like a farmer's wind row. That's how you get trees in North Dakota.

The unemployment rate also has to do with the exploitation of the Bakken field. Frack me, baby! It's a boom town up there.

So far the problems of Bakken have mostly stayed in the western part of the state. I was living in Fargo at the time.

...and are simply discharged?

If so, then I guess that the women in North Dakota, with the help of Search & Rescue Teams will now have to start sifting through the discharge in order to save these tiny human beings from being flushed down the toilet.

Man, those conservatives in North Dakota are dedicated!
