people in this country? It has to be something they championed and fought for.

Me? I'm drawing a big blank. But I'm not an authority on US history. Just semi-politically aware since Nixon.

I don't usually think of slavery in terms of a "class" analysis but you could consider slaves to be working class -- certainly not middle or upper class.

Theodore Roosevelt took some actions that restricted the oligarchs and did benefit the working class.

If I'm not allowed to go back more than a century, though, then I'm stumped.

It would be a very different country for the better if they did.

I suppose a more recent example might be found with the Eisenhower administration. But it's so telling that it's so difficult to come up with much of a list.
